WCS Hub exists so that West Coast Swing dancers can find and attend practices. These guidelines describe what that requires of everyone using it. They are short on purpose: you should be able to read them quickly and know what is expected of each participant.
The short version. Treat people with dignity and respect. If conflict arises, critiquing arguments and disagreeing are acceptable, but personal attacks are not.
We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior on WCS Hub. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and accounts that keep breaking them lose access.
1.1 Harassment. Targeting a person — repeatedly, or once and severely. Insults aimed at a person rather than an idea, or contacting someone who has made clear they want to be left alone.
1.2 Hate speech and slurs. Attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, physical appearance, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation. Slurs are not allowed even when used in a friendly or joking register.
1.3 Sexual content, and unwelcome sexual attention. No sexual or explicit content, and no comments about a person’s body or appearance framed sexually.
1.4 Threats and intimidation. Threats of violence, wishes of harm, or anything intended to make someone afraid to attend.
1.5 Revealing someone’s private information. Home addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, or anything else about a person that they have not shared themselves.
1.6 Impersonation. Presenting yourself as someone else, or hosting a practice under an identity that is not yours.
1.7 Spam and promotion. Comments or practices that exist to advertise something.
1.8 Safety of the practice itself. Do not use WCS Hub to organise anything unlawful, and do not post a practice you do not intend to hold.
This section matters as much as the one above, because a rule against harassment is easy to over-read.
Direct feedback about dancing. Dancers give each other direct notes and that is how people improve.
Disagreement. Arguing about technique, about a song, about how a practice is run.
Criticism of a host or a practice. “This one starts late every week” is fair comment. Saying so publicly is not an attack.
Saying no. Declining a dance, leaving a practice, dropping an RSVP, blocking someone. None of it requires a reason and none of it is rude.
Commenting on what someone did is okay, but not commenting on who they are.
Anyone can report comments. The report is anonymous to the person reported.
As an added precaution, a reported comment is hidden immediately while it is reviewed. Its author still sees their own comment, marked as under review. A reported practice is not automatically hidden, but will be closed if a review determines that it violates the community guidelines.
All reports are reviewed within minutes by an automated system. Most reports are resolved automatically by an AI agent. Ones that are not clear-cut go to a person, which takes longer.
Either it comes back or it stays down. If it breached a rule above, it is removed and its author is told which rule. If it did not, it reappears and nothing is recorded against anyone.
Repeatedly breaking these rules costs you access, to a practice or to WCS Hub.
Reporting in bad faith is itself a breach. We record who is making reports against whom, though that data is never revealed to other users. Using the report button to silence someone you disagree with is treated the same way as any other targeting of a person.
You can block another person at any time, without a reason and without telling them. You will stop seeing what they post. Blocking is not a report and it is not a complaint — it is just distance, and nobody is notified. Separately, a host can remove or block someone from a practice they run. The removed or blocked person is notified.
Email wcs-support@antigrav.design. Say what was removed and why you think it should not have been. A person reads it.
If these guidelines change, the date at the top changes with them, and we will say so in the app.
